Senate Defeats Cloture Motion on Collective Bargaining Legislation

Senators have defeated a procedural (cloture) motion to begin debate on the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act (S. 3991) by a vote of 55-43.  Sixty votes were needed to adopt the motion.

According to the International Association of Fire Fighters, the bill would grant “fire fighters and police officers minimum collective bargaining rights by establishing minimum standards for state collective bargaining laws.”
