Admiral Mike Mullen Faces Confirmation Hearing

Admiral Mike Mullen, “the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will take center stage Tuesday as the Senate Armed Services Committee hears his nomination to stay on as President Barack Obama’s top military adviser,” The Hill reports.

Mullen will have to answer a myriad of questions about the security situation in Afghanistan. He is up for another two-year term as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He can serve for a total of four years.

His hearing will “likely will become a platform for Democrats and Republicans on the panel to air their concerns about an increasingly unpopular war.”
