Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) “will kick off her re-election bid with about $3 million in the bank, according to the Associated Press,” Roll Call reports.
The Michigan Democrat will also report raising $1.2 million in the first three months of this year.
Meanwhile, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) “raised more than $1 million for her reelection bid in the first three months of the year despite being engulfed in scandal,” The Hill reports.
McCaskill raised $1.05 million last quarter and has close to $1.8 million cash on hand, according to figures reported by The Associated Press and confirmed to The Ballot Box by a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
A separate report notes that Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) “raised close to $2 million last quarter.”
President Obama and Vice President Biden both attended fundraising events last quarter for the senator, who is expected to face a stiff challenge from the GOP in 2012. With their help, Nelson’s campaign coffers have swollen to between $4.5 and $5 million, according to a release.
