Hawaii Senate: Djou Waiting for Lingle

Former Representative Charles Djou (R-HI) “says he’s waiting to see whether former Gov. Linda Lingle runs for U.S. Senate next year before deciding whether he will seek the Republican nomination,” the AP reports.

Djou told the Conservative Forum for Hawaii this weekend that he supports Lingle, and he said she would make a strong successor to Democratic Sen. Daniel Akaka, who announced this month he won’t seek re-election.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported Monday that Djou isn’t currently considering running for any specific office next year, but he hasn’t ruled out a political bid.
