Rand Paul Would Explore 2012 Run if Dad Doesn’t

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) “appeared to inch closer to a 2012 presidential run Thursday morning,” the Courier-Journal reports.

Speaking on the Mandy Connell show on WHAS radio, Paul said he would consider a presidential run if his father, U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, decides not to make the race.

On WHAS, Rand Paul said that if his father doesn’t run “then I think there are options open and we will explore those options.”

He told the AP today that “supporters in a number of states are encouraging him to pursue the presidency in 2012 should his father opt out,” according to The Hill.
