Republicans Will Use Amendments to Focus on Cuts

Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) “said Sunday that Republicans would seek to amend a range of legislation before the full Senate to mandate cuts to federal spending and debt,” Dow Jones reports.

Speaking on Fox News Sunday, McConnell said the Senate GOP would amend bills even if they aren’t directly related to spending and debt.

“In the Senate, we actually can offer amendments on any subject,” he said. “We intend to continue to focus on reducing government spending no matter what bill happens to be before the Senate.”

I hope they start with “social spending” that does not provide for the general welfare, such as our wars on abstractions.
