Two quotes have people talking up the potential retirement of Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) today. He is up for re-election in 2012.
The first, courtesy of National Journal:
When questioned about his reelection plans by National Journal Tuesday, 76-year-old Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) asked, "Am I running?" He then shrugged, wordlessly. Kohl then asked "are you are a reporter?" Told "yes," he walked away without a word.
And the second, courtesy of The Hill:
Asked on Tuesday if she has talked to Kohl about whether he will run for reelection, Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (Wash.) would only say, "Herb’s just great."
Update: Roll Call reports that Kohl “has yet to determine whether he will run for re-election in 2012 but plans to make a decision later this year, his spokeswoman Dawn Schueller confirmed Wednesday morning.”
“Sen. Kohl will announce his decision later this year,” she said. “Right now, he is focused entirely on doing his job and working hard to represent the people of Wisconsin.”
