Reid Says Senate Will Pass Temporary House Spending Bill

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said today that “Senate Democrats will vote within two days on House Republicans’ plan to temporarily fund the U.S. government and avoid a shutdown,” Bloomberg reports.

“We’ll pass this and then we’ll look to funding the government on a long-term basis,” Reid told reporters in Washington. The House plans to vote on its proposal within a few hours today.

MSNBC notes that the bill “funds government operations for two weeks, containing $4-billion in spending cuts.”
