Vermont State Auditor Tom Salmon (R), who “announced on Facebook on Thursday that he wouldn’t run for re-election as auditor in 2012, said Friday he hasn’t made up his mind about running for U.S. Senate next year,” the Burlington Free Press reports.
He will announce that decision, he said, March 4 or March 5. He is considering challenging Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who will be running for his second six-year term in the Senate.
Salmon is a “Republican who switched from the Democratic Party during his first term as auditor.”
