Senate Tables Paul Amendment Dealing with OSHA Memorandum

An amendment offered by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) to the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act (S. 223) has been tabled by a vote of 52-47.

It would strike section 509 of the underlying bill.

A letter from the AFL-CIO stated that adoption of this amendment would have denied “much needed worker safety and health protections for flight attendants.”

I am a flight attendant and was injured on duty, at work. I won’t go into detail here -I would love to see a new standard of safety in general for our crew members, especially the flight attendants – people don’t realize how physical our jobs are. We have very little support from our unions and our companies and more so from the FAA.
