Senate Adopts Amendment to Prevent NASA Cuts in FAA Bill

Senators have adopted an amendment offered by Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) to the FAA Air Transportation Modernization and Safety Improvement Act (S. 223) by a vote of 96-1.

According to The Hill, this amendment would strike language in the underlying bill that could “lead to budget cuts for NASA.”

Specifically, it would “kill language that creates an advisory committee to examine whether or not NASA should continue research and development on civilian aircraft.”
