In press releases issued today, Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT) introduced several pieces of legislation aimed at repealing individual provisions of the health reform law.
- The Medical Device Access and Innovation Protection Act (S. 17) would repeal a 2.3 percent excise tax on medical devices.
- The American Liberty Restoration Act (S. 19) would repeal the individual mandate that those in opposition to the health law say is unconstitutional.
- The American Job Protection Act (S.20) would repeal the employer mandate that Hatch says will “force more layoffs and increase taxes on businesses at a time when unemployment continues to push past 9 percent.”
