DeMint Says Republicans United Around Candidates

WASHINGTON - SEPTEMBER 17: Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) speaks at the 'Values Voter Summit' on September 17, 2010 in Washington, DC. The Values Voter Summit is an annual conservative political gathering where the country's most conservative leaders and activists are invited to speak.

Republican Senators “are ‘united’ around the party’s slate of candidates, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) asserted Tuesday,” The Hill reports.

DeMint, the supporter of several successful conservative candidates in hotly-contested GOP primaries, said he’d met with National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman John Cornyn (Texas) about rallying around GOP nominees.

"I just met with John Cornyn, who is the chairman of our Senate committee that supports candidates," DeMint said on Fox News. "I support all of our Republican candidates, and so does John Cornyn and Mitch McConnell. Our party is united around our slate of candidates, and we’ve got the energy of the grassroots movement out across the country right now.”
