Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Judd Gregg (R-NH) “is sending signals that he’s willing to make a deal on healthcare reform,” The Hill reports.
In a number of recent interviews, Gregg has said he’s willing to work with Democrats to find common ground.
"Let’s step back lets start with a blank sheet of paper and let’s put on that piece of paper things we can agree about," Gregg told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell today.
He also said the “White House had been in touch with his office, though no major breakthroughs seem imminent.”
But is this really anything we haven’t already been hearing? Republicans have signaled they’d be willing to work on a bipartisan health bill over the past few weeks.
That only applies, however, to a brand new bill. They say that Democrats have to take the current proposals off the table first.
Democrats say that won’t happen and they want to work with Republicans on scaling back certain aspects of the legislation that’s already been passed.
So for now, it sounds like another stalemate.
