Texas Senate: Cornyn Trying to Persuade Hutchison to Drop Gubernatorial Bid

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) (L-R), SenatorLamar Alexander (R-TN) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) talk to reporters about healthcare legislation outside of the senate Republicans' weekly policy lunch at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, December 8, 2009.

The Wall Street Journal reports that National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn (R-TX) is trying to get Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) to drop her bid for governor and focus on getting re-elected to the Senate.

I’m hearing that Senator John Cornyn, who runs the Republican Senatorial Committee, also is trying to persuade Ms. Hutchison to drop out of the governor’s race run for reelection to the senate. That would stop the costly internecine warfare in the state and likely end any chance of Democrats picking up her Senate seat. Ms. Hutchison has not ruled out seeking another Senate term.

One Response to Texas Senate: Cornyn Trying to Persuade Hutchison to Drop Gubernatorial Bid

I agree, Kay needs to stay in the Senate. A strong voice like hers is best used in the Senate where it can benefit America while representing Texas. Kay, do it for the people. We can’t afford the chance that we lose your Senate seat.
