Josh Kraushaar on Senator Chris Dodd’s (D-CT) latest polling numbers, which still show a high disapproval rating.
Voters in Connecticut continue to view Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) unfavorably, and the senator is badly trailing former GOP congressman Rob Simmons and also trails former WWE executive Linda McMahon, according to a newly-released Quinnipiac poll.
The poll shows Simmons leading Dodd by 11 points, 49 to 38 percent, while McMahon narrowly leads Dodd by two points, 43 to 41 percent. Former Ambassador to Ireland Tom Foley also leads Dodd, 47 to 40 percent.
Dodd continues to shoulder weak approval and re-election ratings: 54 percent of Connecticut voters disapprove of his job performance, with only 40 percent approving. A 53 percent majority of voters said Dodd doesn’t deserve re-election, with only 39 percent saying he deserves a sixth term.
Dodd is struggling mightily with independent voters: 60 percent disapproved of his job performance, while they preferred Simmons by a 28-point margin, 57 to 29 percent.
