Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) “predicted Thursday that Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota would become the next chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee if Sen. Chris Dodd decides to leave the panel and take over the Health committee,” POLITICO reports.
“Sen. Johnson is next in line, he’s a very capable thoughtful independent man, and will work with the whole committee,” Schumer said on a conference call with reporters. “But it remains to be seen if he’ll become the chairman because that first step is by Chris Dodd who hasn’t made up his mind.”
