The “money bomb is back,” according to Congressional Quarterly. Kentucky Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul “raked in more than $430,000 during a Thursday Internet-based fundraising drive.”
His father, U.S. Representative Ron Paul (R-TX), used similar tactics during his run for president.
The online fundraising event, which coincided with the elder Paul’s 74th birthday, attempted to mimic his father’s successful “money bomb” efforts in 2008 that attracted small donations from conservatives nationwide, including $6 million in a single day.
All told, Rand Paul’s “campaign Web site shows that he has raised more than $680,000.”
