Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway (D) “has emerged as one of the party’s leading Democratic fundraisers, raising over $1.32 million in the second quarter – the highest total of any Democratic Senate candidate in state history,” Josh Kraushaar reports.
Conway, the state’s Attorney General, is facing lieutenant governor Daniel Mongiardo in the Democratic primary for the seat currently held by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) Mongiardo hasn’t announced his fundraising totals yet; he raised $420,000 in the first quarter.
Conway’s fundraising total will likely top the combined fundraising numbers of Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) and Republican Secretary of State Trey Grayson. Grayson announced he raised $603,000 in the quarter for his exploratory committee, and Bunning said he likely won’t top that amount on a conference call this week.
