
Senators have confirmed Thomas Strickland, President Obama’s nominee to be Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks at the Department of Interior, by a vote of 89 to 2. The nomination was subject to a 60-vote threshold.
In this capacity, he will also essentially serve as Interior Secretary Ken Salazar’s chief of staff.
Senators Jim Bunning (R-KY) and Roger Wicker (R-MS) were the only no votes.
