The Senate has adopted an amendment offered by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) to the economic stimulus package (S.1/H.R.1) by a vote of 73 to 24.
This amendment would mandate that no stimulus funding be used for “any casino or other gambling establishment, aquarium, zoo, golf course, swimming pool, stadium, community park, museum, theater, art center, and highway beautification project,” according to the official amendment text (pdf).
Similar language was added to the House-passed bill but was not included in the Senate version.
