New stories and reports have been written about the already infamous “Coburn Omnibus” bill on almost a daily basis since it was announced. With that, we thought a daily update on new developments might be in order.
In the News:
- The Associated Press has picked up on the story, linked here. The article notes that an initial vote to begin debating the bill may be taken on Saturday. Interestingly, the title of the story refers to Senator Coburn (R-OK) as Majority Leader Reid’s (D-NV) “antagonist.”
- Congressional Quarterly also takes a look at the omnibus package, which they say is around 400 pages long. They cite a report conducted by Senator Coburn’s staff which said the bill could provide for up to $11.3 billion in federal spending.
Official Documents from Coburn’s Office:
- Executive Summary of omnibus package (pdf)
- Full text of Coburn floor speech on the package (pdf)
- Full text of the bill (pdf, looooong)
- Bill Summary (pdf, long)
- Press release on procedural objections
Random Notes:
- The bill is S. 3297.
- The current title of the measure is simply: “To advance America’s priorities.”
- The package contains at least 35 separate bills.
