The Senate is back in session today and will convene at 1:00 p.m. central time for a period of morning business. Following the conclusion of all morning business, the Senate is scheduled to resume consideration of H.R. 1585 (Department of Defense Appropriations Bill). This bill also makes appropriations for military construction, defense activities within the Department of Energy, and it prescribes the military personnel strengths for the next year. There are no roll call votes expected during today’s session.
This will obviously be one of the most contentious debates of the year. Expect numerous amendments on a variety of topics, namely the war in Iraq. We will do our best to navigate through all the action and keep things concise and informative for you throughout consideration of this bill.
